So, we now we have confirmation from EC members who actually attend meetings, of the truth behind the valuation of the Birmingham hotel. And what a surprise…it doesn’t look good.
When Beckett was interim Finance Director under McCluskey and the UL EC, he gave a valuation of the Birmingham hotel, as being worth over £90 million.
We now know that the real valuation, undertaken by a reputable independent agent commissioned by Sharon Graham, was £29 million.
That is over £60 million less than the UL regime told us.
Unsurprisingly, the valuation adopted by the UL EC was not independent and apparently was based in part on comparing land values of a science park in Birmingham to those of Mayfair in London. Now, Birmingham is a great place but nowhere does it have real estate value that can compare to Mayfair.
The fact that no current member of the UL actually asked for an independent valuation throughout that period is striking. As is the fact that even Beckett’s bullshit one was only produced after The Times ran another article about the development.
And that is why one of the most sickening themes to have emerged from the remains of the United Left supporters group, has been their continuous attempt to distract from the reality of where our Union finds itself.
Here’s the simple fact: No matter how many dead cats they try and throw on the road to try and cause a stir, the inevitable is still inevitable. The truth will out.
The spectacular levels of financial “mismanagement” and “alleged corruption” by the McCluskey led UL regime, will be laid bare to all.
The motivations of these people are pretty transparent and utterly self-interested.
The UL, motivated by naked survival instinct and the fear of being rightly engulfed in this corruption scandal, are scrambling to throw any muck they can at those doing the investigating. While the handful of useful idiots who support them are attempting to get UL support for their candidates at upcoming elections. It’s all pretty sad stuff and completely driven by factional and personal interests.
They don’t give a flying f*** about the members. And this is why the culture has to change. The drive to sow destruction and distract from investigations into corruption on behalf of such narrow interests, can play no part in any Union fit for the future.
